HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS
Math Fast Fact practice is assigned every night.
Spelling words will be assigned during each full week of school. We do many in class activities to focus on the patterns and usage of the spelling words. Student may study the spelling words at home in any way that helps them to be prepared for a spelling test on Fridays.
Additional Math problems. Most evenings the students will need to complete a few sample math problems that go with the lesson covered in class that day.
15 minutes of reading is also required each day.
PLEASE SIGN THE STUDENT'S "TRAVEL" BINDER ONLY IF THEY HAVE HONESTLY COMPLETED EACH PART OF THE HOMEWORK TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY.
STUDY AND HOMEWORK POLICY (as stated in student handbook)
A reasonable amount of time each evening should be spent in preparing for class. Homework is a helpful educational tool that reinforces the study skills presented in class, teaches the student to work independently, and gives the student time to complete projects that require individual and creative effort. Basic to all successful homework is the attitude of parents. When parents show an interest and concern, the child will also show interest. Supervision and guidance of homework are encouraged, especially in the lower grades. Parents should also assist students by providing a quiet time and a workplace suitable for study.
The following time allotments are suggested.
-Grades 1-2 20 minutes
-Grades 3-4 30-40 minutes
-Grades 5-6 50-60 minutes
